Water advisor Niger Delta
Landell Mills is seeking to identify qualified technical advisors for the implementation of the water component of the Niger Delta support programme. The ideal candidates will need a mix of skills typical for IWRM, including engineering skills, environmental issues related to water management (specifically floods, erosion and pollution), policy and regulatory framework, institutional aspects of IWRM, capacity building and mentoring coaching, participatory methods,, planning and implementation of project activities, M&E and excellent knowledge of EU procurement, budgeting and project cycle management.
The TA teams will establish project units in four of the Delta states and will provide policy advise, institutional support and capacity building through training and mentoring. Each TA team will comprise three long-term advisors including a team leader. There will also be a pool of short-term experts to support water policy, regulatory and legal issues, community-based water management and human resources.
Previous working experience in the Niger Delta or experience from working under similar conditions as well as very good knowledge of the political and economic climate in Nigeria is preferred.
The positions are envisaged to be for a period of 24 months, with a likely extension of a further 24 months. The project is likely to start in September 2012 at the earliest.
