News 05.07.19 Environment, water, climate change and disaster risk reduction

Landell Mills showcased the achievements of the EU-funded programme ECOFAC6 - Preserving the Biodiversity and Fragile Ecosystems of Central Africa at Europe's leading annual forum on development, the European Development Days (EDD), in Brussels on 18-19th June. Landell Mills is currently implementing the four-year regional contract Technical Assistance for the monitoring, knowledge sharing and visibility of the regional programme ECOFAC 6.

The contract's communication expert and a representative from the ECCAS (Economic Community of the Central African States) attended the EDD event, as well as DG DEVCO's representatives. They took part in a press conference organised by Landell Mills in close cooperation with the Embassies of Central African countries in Brussels. Various representatives from the countries involved in the programme, along with one of the implementing partners, African Parks Network, also attended the press conference, which was live streamed on ECOFAC6's Facebook page.

The programme had a stand in the Global Village, a platform which provides a focal point for the event and showcases successful projects and ground-breaking reports from around the world. ECOFAC6's stand featured promotional materials as well as interactive activities such as a quiz, a photo booth, a full presentation of the programme and short films and photos produced by partners implementing national components of the programme.

EDD 2019's overarching title was 'Addressing inequalities: building a world which leaves no one behind'. This year, more than 8000 people visited the EDD 2019, which provided a great opportunity for networking and exchange opportunities as well as increasing the visibility of the programme.

ECOFAC 6 supports 18 protected areas across seven different states of the central African region, including eight priority conservation landscapes. Find out more about ECOFAC6 here:
