history

Landell Mills was founded in 1975, by John Landell Mills and others. It was originally established to carry out research, and to provide management services in the agricultural sector.

The 1980s and 1990s saw a period of expansion, with Landell Mills providing technical assistance on many aspects of agriculture, fisheries and rural development for clients including the Asian Development Bank, European Commission and the World Bank. During this time, the company diversified into trade and private sector development, regional integration, and natural resource management.

Beginning in 1998, and throughout the start of the millennium, Landell Mills underwent a period of consolidation after acquiring several complementary businesses. Over the last decade, Landell Mills has established specialist divisions providing expertise in sectors such as framework contract management; communications and visibility; and monitoring, evaluation and learning.

Following the diversification of both its client base and technical specialisations, turnover has grown from £14.2 million in 2017 to £28.2m million in 2022. This growth reflects Landell Mills’ capacity for adaptation and innovation, and its reputation for high-quality service delivery.
