The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has contracted Landell Mills to implement a Knowledge Support Technical Assistance project to strengthen Integrated Flood Risk Management (IFRM) across Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Vietnam. IFRM is a basin or catchment perspective to flood risk management which incorporates social, economic, financial, environmental, and institutional aspects, as well as engineering, disaster preparedness, insurance, and emergency response requirements.

The technical assistance will strengthen the design and implementation of IFRM solutions, enhancing knowledge and the application of IFRM strategies across the eight countries. The project will provide targeted technical support for program and project preparation and promote more holistic IFRM solutions, including basin-scale and nature-based solutions which are inspired and supported by nature.

The project will focus on the following results:

  1. enhancing ADB and target governments’ knowledge to implement IFRM projects

  2. evaluating target country flood risk management and investment strategies

  3. integrating IFRM concepts into future ADB investments

Landell Mills has partnered with Jeremy Benn Associates for this contract, a UK based environment, water and flood risk management consultancy. The project will run for 24 months and started on 4th February 2019.
