The WECOOP project's 3rd Working Group Meeting was attended by over 80 delegates, the workshop was chaired by Mr. Massimo Cozzone of the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea and co-chaired by Mr. Bektas Mukhamedjanov of the Ministry of Environment of Kazakhstan. The meeting agenda included forward-looking plans for the EU-Central Asia platform. Discussions took place on environmental monitoring and information systems, climate change strategies and the green economy. The workshop was considered by all parties to have been an excellent opportunity to review process made by the WECOOP project. The members of the Platform acknowledged the value of cooperation with the EU in relation to regional water and environmental cooperation and also extended this to place considerable emphasis on the green economy. All parties referred to the importance of the December 2015 climate change ‘Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC’ which will be held in Paris.

The workshop marked the conclusion of the Landell Mills technical assistance contract and the EU is currently launching a follow-on project to support water and environment cooperation in Central Asia.
