Landell Mills supports digital innovation workshop in Thailand
Under our Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Programme (SAFSP) project, we supported the organisation of the Digital Innovation Workshop: Digitalization as a Driver for Transforming Agri-food Systems in the GMS which was held in Bangkok from 10-12 June 2025. Our GMS SAFSP project has an aim to increase investments and capacities for climate-friendly, safe and sustainable agri-food value chains.
The Digital Innovation Workshop: Digitalization as a Driver for Transforming Agri-food Systems in the GMS, supported by Landell Mills, brought together stakeholders from across the GMS and beyond – including government officials, agribusinesses, e-commerce platforms, development partners and digital pioneers – to co-create the future of agriculture in the GMS.
Throughout the three-day event, the sessions explored practical ways to:
- digitalise farm-to-border traceability for crops and livestock.
- scale smart farming and circular economy models.
- enable interoperable certification systems and e-commerce integration.
- improve farmer bankability through agri-fintech.
- strengthen South-South cooperation and investment readiness.
The event also saw the launch of the Durian Digital Collaboration Framework, which features innovations in Quick Response (QR) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) traceability, smart farming, durian maturity scanning and biochar valorisation.
Action plans and pilot proposals from the digital innovation workshop will feed into the GMS Regional Investment Framework (2026-2028) and the GMS Digitalization Action Plan; while stakeholder collaboration and knowledge exchange will continue at the GMS Working Group on Agriculture annual meeting, which is due to take place in Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic in September 2025.
