Workshop brings together stakeholders and technical experts to support healthcare electrification in Nigeria

News 21.05.26 Nigeria Governance

In May, the Landell Mills team – working in collaboration with the National Power for Health Initiative – held a Capacity Building Validation Workshop in Abuja, Nigeria, under the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions)-funded Healthcare Facility Electrification Framework programme.

The programme aims to establish a scalable national framework that provides reliable, clean electricity to healthcare facilities, particularly in underserved areas.

The Capacity Building Validation Workshop brought together stakeholders and technical experts to review and validate the capacity building curriculum currently being developed to support a more structured and sustainable approach to healthcare electrification in Nigeria. Discussions focused on four key thematic areas:

  • energy audits, and baseline and endline assessments.
  • monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
  • sustainable business models.
  • investment and finance business case development.

Through breakout working sessions and plenary discussions, participants reviewed competencies, validated learning modules, identified gaps, and helped strengthen the overall training approach to ensure it is practical, relevant, and aligned with sector needs. The workshop marked another important step toward building the institutional and technical capacity needed to support long-term, sustainable healthcare electrification across Nigeria.

We'd like to thank all participants, facilitators, and partners for their valuable contributions and collaborative engagement throughout the session. In June, two other events will be held under the Healthcare Facility Electrification Framework programme: Finance & Investment Training, and an Investor Matchmaking Event.
