Landell Mills were contracted to undertake a review of the artisanal fisheries sector for a private client. This included the preparation of a SWOT analysis and an options/strategy for investment. A business plan was also prepared for investment opportunity based on fish collection and export marketing.

Aim was to develop a pilot programme to promote and develop rural micro-enterprises in 21 selected local authority districts (gminas) in Poland, with the wider aims of stimulating off-farm employment opportunities in rural areas.

The Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the International Development Association jointly financed a rubber rehabilitation programme for the nine state rubber companies operating in the SE region under an agricultural rehabilitation project. The programme included the supply of agricultural inputs to rubber plantations, covering about 160,000 ha and the construction and/or rehabilitation of nine rubber factories.
Landell Mills provided an international expert recruited to serve as resident training adviser to assist the General Rubber Company in implementing the project and generally advising in all training and related matters. This included providing advice to GERUCO as an institution, the Rubber Research Associates to the nine plantation companies. The project also included an assessment and recommendations on the design of the rubber factories for effluent disposal and environmental control and the organisation of training for Vietnamese staff in these topics
The assistance concentrated in sectors in geographical areas in which the EC could play a key role in the continuation of the reform process. The programme focused on human resources development; enterprise restructuring and development; energy, including nuclear safety; food production, processing and distribution. Mongolia received a budget allocation of €8 million from the 94/95 TACIS funds

A team of LML consultants worked with the Agricultural Economics Institute of Prague to study the policies affecting various sub-sectors and the performance of these sub-sectors in relation to EU and world averages. The intention was to facilitate the movement of policies towards convergence with the EU-CAP, bearing in mind the latter’s recent and likely future reorientation. The sub-sectors included in the study were those of meat, milk, fruit and vegetables, sugar, oilseeds and cereals. The study involved the collection and interpretation of production and processing data from the EU and the CR; the review of EU and CR policies; and identification of areas for policy change
